What's Jessica been up to this summer?
We had some HOT weather this June and July! Jessica enjoyed being outside in the sprinkler, slip n slide, and swimming pools. She made good progress in her swimming skills this summer. Being able to jump into the water (completely submerging) without a life jacket, and dog paddling her way to and from a distance of about five feet are both new skills for her. Overall, her confidence and enjoyment while in the water has increased.
Jessica has been busy playing with her stuffed animals, ponies, and her neighbor friends, Ali and John. Sometimes her days are filled with tea parties, pretend cooking, and baby dolls. Other days, Jess will get into playing make-believe games, where she pretends to be an animal or a superhero.
She has recently discovered nail polish, and enjoys the occasional "mani/pedi" with mom.
Jessica is still usually the first of the kids to wake up every morning. And, she very much enjoys starting her day with cuddles from Dad and an episode of Tom & Jerry or Doc McStuffin or Yo Gabba Gabba or Jake & the Neverland Pirates.
Although we did not work with Jessica too much this summer on her writing skills, Jason and I are confident in her ability to write letters and numbers. It'll take some getting used to, and some strengthening of her tiny hand muscles, but Pre-K will be great for Jess. She is excited about learning. And we are excited about seeing improvements in both her academic skills, as well as her social skills.
Jessica gets herself dressed, washes herself (and her mermaids) in the bath tub, and helps with cleaning around the house.
During these last few days of summer vacation Jessica will look forward to one last family trip (Detroit Lakes), fun in the bounce house, play, play, and more play!
Jessica's on the brink of beginning her school years. And, she is very ready for this new journey! I'll still have the priviledge to enjoy one last year with Jessica at home with me, for half days anyhow, before she will officially "graduate" from daycare.
Time is flying by. We're just trying to enjoy the moments while we still can.
Thanks for the memories this summer, Jessica.
Love, Mom
