Jack-O-Lanterns, 2013

We had a fun time carving our pumpkins this year.
Jackson and Jessica drew the faces they wanted on their pumpkins onto a piece of paper. Lia told me what shapes she'd like for the eyes and nose, and whether she'd prefer to have a happy mouth or a scary mouth. Then, I drew the faces onto all three pumpkins.
Jason helped Jessica carve her pumpkin, after she did an "ok" job cleaning out the guts... For some reason, none of the kids wanted to help much with that part; we're happy we decided to only get three pumpkins!

Jackson did most of the carving himself this year...

The kids were pretty happy with how they turned out!

As we were carving, the discussion centered around costume ideas for school and for trick-or-treating (and daycare for Lia). Well, Jackson had his heart set on being something scary this year. Not knowing this, I first went out and bought him a Mario costume, which was later exchanged for something a tad bit scarier...
And, our two indecisve girls probably came up with at least ten different costume ideas, between the two of them! Thankfully, both Jess and Lia were happy to make a selection from our dress-up box (and Grandma Barb's dress-up clothes as well), rather than buying new.

Pictures of the kids in their chosen costumes in the next post... ;)

Friday night golf outings.

For the past few summers, the kids, Jason, and I have been able to enjoy some time out on the golf course with Grandma Chris, Grandpa Bob, and a few times with Grandma & Grandpa Gundy as well.

Jackson will, oftentimes, choose to golf a few holes before he turns into "mom's caddy/chauffeur."

Jessica and Lia enjoy riding in the golf carts, eating snacks. At times, the girls will choose to just run down the fairways after each ball is hit.

All three kids will sometimes help Grandma Chris look for little "hidden treasures" --aka- missing golf balls.

Both Lia and Jessica started out the season putting on the greens with plastic golf clubs; however, by the end of the summer, they were both using their brother's metal clubs to practice their putts.

Jackson continues to practice his swings. While he's still very much in a pattern of swing, miss, swing, miss, swing, hit, run up to the ball, swing, miss, swing, miss, swing, hit, run ...you get the picture, he will occasionally find his swing and send the ball a fair distance.

Most memorable moment for Jackson out on the course this year --scoring a bogie on a par 4!

Most memorable moment for myself, and I assume for Jess and Lia too, was the time Alli, Lettie, AND Grandma & Grandpa Gundy all joined us, bringing our usual group of 7 up to 11, for the evening.

After golf, we almost always stay to enjoy a meal (and/or ice cream treats) at the clubhouse.

It's been fun! Here are a few pictures to recap:

Halloween ready at Grandma Chris' & Grandpa Bob's

It has become a tradition for our family to help Grandma Chris decorate the outside of their house for Halloween.
The kids like to help Grandma hang the stuffed animals along the edge of the roof; and they also enjoy placing plastic pumpkins all over the yard. Grandma Chris has many, many decorations; the kids have a fun time rummaging through her stock pile checking things out.

And, this is how Lia has apparently decided to wear her headband nowadays...;)

Hmmm, I wouldn't say this is the most photogenic picture of our kids...but, atleast Grandma Chris looks nice!

It's so nice to have Grandma and Grandpa Gundy join us each year for this fun afternoon of decorating!

First day of school, September 3rd, 2013

Jackson is starting second grade at Irving Pertzsch elementary, Onalaska. Teacher is Miss Knutson

Jessica is starting kindergarten at Eagle Bluff elementary, Onalaska. Her teacher is Mrs. Galstad-Roh (same teacher Jackson had for kindergarten, whom we enjoy very much).

Lia is just happy to be in the picture!
She will be home with me (and daycare) yet another year;)

This will be Jackson's walking group on his way to scool this year...

Jess is not walking with this group; she just wanted to be included in the picture.

St Paul Saints baseball game

After the family reunion, Cheryl, Penny, Duane, Heather, Andrew, Joan, Teri, Bob, Ryan, Luke, and our family went to a St Paul Saints baseball game.

Although the Saints didn't play so well that night, it was still fun to watch Jackson's excitement for the game. Plus, we were able to get some extra snuggle time with Jessica and Lia (when they weren't being so squirmy!...or sitting in Duane's lap). :)
